Overview of Participation in Accessibility Events

Sony is working to enhance the accessibility of its products,
services, and experiences, aiming for an inclusive future
where everyone can be themselves and share Kando (emotion).
As part of these efforts, Sony will participate in the following event.

Sight World 2025

  • Dates: Thursday, October 16 to Saturday, October 18, 2025

4K LCD / OLED TV BRAVIA®

BRAVIA®'s accessibility features continue to evolve to allow more people to use their TVs independently. Improvements are informed by research conducted in collaboration with people with disabilities. In addition, BRAVIA TVs come with functions to allow them to be used jointly with family and friends so as to share entertainment/emotion (Kando).

  • POINTS
    • TalkBack screen reader can be used during initial setup.
    • Option to extend Menu timeout to view menus longer, and Color inversion and Grayscale mode are available.
    • Volume reset can turn TV on at preferred volume, and Multi-Audio out allows you to listen through TV speakers and a Bluetooth® device at the same time.

Soundbar BRAVIA Theatre

These soundbars and home theater systems enhance the immersiveness and clarity of TV sound. At Sony, alongside our efforts with BRAVIA TVs, we are committed to improving accessibility through our audio products, focusing on ease of installation and connection, daily usability, and voice clarity in our soundbars. In recent years, we have also launched the "BRAVIA Connect" smartphone app. This app allows users with visual disabilities to operate compatible TVs and soundbars using screen reader functionality, leveraging smartphones as vital accessibility infrastructure.

    • Unified control of compatible TVs and soundbars through the BRAVIA Connect app, which supports VoiceOver/TalkBack.
    • Improved distinguishability of ports and connection ease thanks to tactile dots on both TV and soundbar ports, coupled with audio guidance via the BRAVIA Connect app.
    • "Voice Zoom 3," a feature where compatible TVs and soundbars work together using AI processing to enhance the clarity of voices within content.

Wireless Headphones Compatible with Eye Navi

The WH-1000XM6 are wireless headphones we developed in collaboration with sound engineers working in music production with the aim of faithfully delivering the sounds intended by artists. These headphones offer the world's highest class of noise-canceling performance. Furthermore, Ambient Sound Mode allows you to enjoy music while naturally taking in the sounds around you.

LinkBuds Open are completely wireless headphones with a structure that leaves your ears open through the use of a ring-shaped driver unit. You can comfortably enjoy music without blocking out the sounds around you while wearing the headphones.

In Japan, you can listen to voice guidance from the Eye Navi walking support application for people with visual disabilities. This application is only available in Japan.

Alpha™ Interchangeable-lens Camera

We want as many users as possible to take advantages of the functions that are standard with Alpha and express themselves through high-quality imagery. With this goal in mind, we had several discussions with employees who are blind and love cameras when developing Screen Reader function to help us decide on the best sequence for items to be read out when taking photos, such as F-number and shutter speeds. Other than Screen Reader, with its carefully selected accessibility features such as Enlarge Screen function, Alpha will continue to support creators by serving as a trustworthy companion regardless of age or disability.

    • AI subject recognition capability enables quick detection of a wide range of subjects and adjust focus automatically.

Xperia™ Smartphone

Each series of Xperia™ smartphones installed with the Android OS is equipped with accessibility functions to assist with vision, hearing, and operation, such as TalkBack* and improved operation screen visibility. Since 2021, the software team has played a leading role in improving certain applications by engaging in dialogue with employees with disabilities at Sony/Taiyo Corporation. With the addition of new accessibility functions created from this initiative, you can experience the operability of accessible Xperia smartphones at the venue. We will introduce new functions including Auto Framing and Sunlight Vision.

  • *TalkBack is a screen reader on Android devices.
  • POINTS
    • Auto Framing: Automatically tracks the subject while filming video without the user having to focus attention on the screen.
    • Sunlight vision: The rear light sensor makes the screen brighter even in backlit environments, improving visibility.
    • Level meter: Notifies the user with sounds and vibrations that the photo shooting screen is tilted even when the screen reader function is turned off.

Make it easier to recognize QR codes: 'Guide for QR'

Sony products has launched an initiative to make it easier for users to recognize a QR Code on the packaging.We will be implementing features that make it easy to identify a QR Code on packaging not just visually but also by touch.
