Sponsored and Exhibited at Tokyo Pride 2025
June, 2025
Tokyo Pride 2025 was held in Yoyogi Park with the theme of "Same Life, Same Rights," and the Sony Group participated as a sponsor. In addition to operating a booth for the entirety of the event and joining the parade, Sony Group was active in the period before and after the event by distributing handbooks and offering e-learning throughout the Group as a way to enhance each employee's understanding of LGBTQ+ issues. This event proved an important opportunity for us to demonstrate our respect for the LGBTQ+ community within society and to let each employee feel a connection to the community.
DIVI@ET&S Bottom-up Activities with Employee Volunteers Held Discussion Sessions with Management
March, 2025
DIVI@ET&S* recruits employee volunteers and works to promote diversity in the workplace. At the annual activity report meeting, DIVI members held casual discussions and exchanged opinions with management teams. While this is a bottom-up initiative spearheaded by the employees themselves, the company fully approves of their work and they receive the full support of management. Activities in FY2024 were divided among the five themes of "global," "lifestyle design," "gender and sexuality," "child-raising," and "an inclusive society" via the planning and execution of events and seminars.
* An abbreviation of Diversity Initiative for Value Innovation, these are bottom-up activities aimed at promoting diversity in various companies within the ET&S (entertainment, technology, and service) sectors.
Diversity Training for New Employees at Sony / Taiyo
FY2024
Sony / Taiyo Corporation employs individuals with a range of disabilities who utilize their individuality and talents based on requisite considerations. This key production facility is responsible for part of the Sony product creation process, particularly with regard to audio equipment, and is tasked with everything from microphone design to manufacturing and customer service. In diversity training, new hires observe employees with disabilities working in factories and use the understanding gained through field work with employees and inclusive design workshops to realize the importance of considering products and services for a wide range of users while also deepening their understanding of diversity through the employment of individuals with disabilities.
Received Gold Certification in the "PRIDE Index," an Index for LGBTQ+ Initiatives
FY2024
The work with Pride Association developed the PRIDE Index as a way to evaluate LGBTQ+ initiatives in the workplace, and Sony received Gold certification, the highest rating, for the fourth consecutive year. Creating a dedicated internal website and holding LGBTQ+ study sessions allows us to connect these actions to promoting understanding among our employees.
Initiatives Toward Promoting Women to Managerial Roles
FY2024
Sony declared its target of increasing the percentage of women in management positions to 10% by FY2025 and is undertaking various initiatives to achieve that target. In FY2024, we conducted career design workshops, mentoring programs, and networking events aimed at women in manager and leadership positions. Creating networks where women can find role models and share concerns supports the formation of women's careers.
Initiatives Encouraging Male Employees to Take Parental Leave
FY2024
Sony works diligently to encourage its male employees to take parental leave. In FY2024, in addition to activities spanning the entire Sony Group, we hosted seminars on paternal child-rearing leave and other DIVI@ET&S* bottom-up activities led by employee volunteers. These initiatives saw the percentage of male employees taking paternal leave rise to 93% in FY2024.
