2025 Earth Month - Our Power, Our Planet

SNA's Employee Network (eNet) Project ECO recognized Earth Month with the theme "It's Our Power, It's Our Planet" and the event saw the participation of a total of over 750 employees.
In support of Sony One Blue Ocean Project, San Diego held a zero-waste event, diverting over 90% of waste. Raffle prizes and giveaways were made from ocean bound plastics. Special collections for reuse and recycling were arranged for soft plastics, shoes, glasses and e-wastes.
The Sony Canada Charitable Foundation also donated to Mind Your Plastic Canada.

Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month

SNA's Asian/Pacific Islander eNet ASIA honored Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a series of events exploring the theme of reflection. Highlights included: wellness tips rooted in cultural practices; a panel on identity and belonging with returning panelists; a session with the founder of a local tea shop; a photo journey with Sony Alpha Collective member Fei Tang; and a vibrant launch event with food, trivia and shared stories.

Pride Month

SNA's LGBTQ+ eNet Equality ALLiance celebrated Pride Month with the theme Unbreakable Pride, Unshakeable Power. In support of our community, Equality ALLiance sponsored a blood drive at the San Diego office site. Twenty-three people donated blood, providing enough blood to save 75 lives. The group also hosted a hybrid event featuring photographer Vanessa DuBois to share their story behind her work photographing the LGBTQ+ community.

Sony Summer Challenge

Running from June 2nd to July 27th, this challenge is all about getting active, having fun with colleagues, and supporting a great cause. Every kilometer covered means a donation to Childhood Cancer International (Europe), an organization supporting young cancer survivors and their families.

UK Technology Centre recognized for CSR Commitment

UK Technology Centre was honored with four prestigious trophies at The CSR Society's CSR Excellence Awards held in London:

  • UK Champion in the Community Commitment category

River4Ward 2025

In May 2025, Sony Foundation Australia hosted its annual River4Ward fundraising event in Melbourne, continuing the celebration of 15 years of its youth cancer program `You Can', with the support of over 400 guests. Through You Can, Sony Foundation is proudly supporting youth cancer patients, alleviating some of the many burdens they face due to their diagnosis.
Sony Foundation Australia raised a record net AUD$815,000 with the funds contributing directly to furthering the reach of You Can Stay to regional patients.

Children's Holiday Camps

Sony Foundation Australia's 2025 Children's Holiday Camps commenced in April, with three camps taking place during the quarter.
With thanks to funding from Sony Foundation, 43 children with disability, and their families were supported with access to free respite at camps in Mackay (hosted by Whitsunday Anglican School, QLD) Southport (hostel by The Southport School, QLD), as well as Darwin (hosted by Haileybury Rendall School, NT), with more than 150 secondary school students volunteering their time to take on the care of the children attending.
Sony Foundation Australia granted AUD$36,500 across the three camps to enable their delivery.

Relief efforts in earthquake-hit Myanmar and Thailand

To aid relief efforts for communities in Myanmar and Thailand which were affected by the earthquake in April, several Sony companies contributed close to USD30,000, including employee donations, through the local Red Cross organizations.

Participating in World Environment Day

In the month of June, several Sony offices in the region took part in World Environment Day, through a variety of local initiatives, designed to engage employees and raise awareness in their communities. They included setting up eco exhibition in the office and organizing activities/contests that support green movement.

cleanup activities

25 employees participated in the monthly cleanup activities within the factory to collect plastic, to prevent water pollution and reduce impact on the ecosystem. About 275kg of waste is collected monthly.

Together with partners IGB Property Management and Experian Credit Information, hosted a badminton workshop on 22 Jun for children, using sport to build confidence, discipline, teamwork and perseverance in the young children

A tree-planting running event

Launched "Green Miles: Run for the Green, Plant a Tree in Between" in Jun 25, ​a new CSR initiative to connect running and jogging enthusiasts with tangible environmental impact. For every 5km run, one tree would be planted in Xuan Lien Nature Reserve. 40 employees took part in the Run, resulting in 600 trees to be planted in 2HFY25.

Yoga awareness sessions held at elementary schools

CSR team visited New ARK Mission of India (Home of Hope) on 17 May, providing food, clothes, shelter and medical care to those in need. Partnering NIIT Foundation, CSR team also visited Government Urdu Higher Primary School on 21 Jun and conducted yoga awareness sessions as part of International Yoga Day.

Collecting plastic products and donating used clothing

As of June 25, 298kg of PET 1 plastics items were collected from the SOMEA office as part of an ongoing campaign, since October 22, to encourage employees to reduce pollution through recycling. Further, the `Donate Old Clothes' campaign continues to contribute an additional seven bags of clothes, bring a total of 28 bags over the course of the project.​

Science contest for children

The 13th Sony Creative Science Award (SCSA) concluded with its final competition and award ceremony, featuring 20 teams of students, teachers, and parents. Each team showcased a self-made science toy inspired by the theme "Sports." All top 20 toys will be featured at the SCSA summer exhibition, offering the public hands-on science fun.

SES Science Journeys to Henan &Inner Mongolia

In 1Q FY25, SES Science Journey went to Henan Province (Apr. 24-25) & Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia (Jun. 7) . Altogether 2,670 people participated in SES activities. On top of YURU Music, toio™ and SES science show, the activity in Henan Science &Technology Museum is also an extension of the Beijing International Film Festival- Science Section. SES 4K3D Trilogy was screened there, following the showcase at the main venue--China Science &Technology Museum in Beijing (Apr.8-22).

FY25 Sony Dream Class

SONY has established 349th "Sony Dream Classroom" in Zhejiang Province. Bring advanced science education equipment and diverse interactive courses to local students, helping them explore the world of science and technology and realize their scientific dreams. It includes theme courses such as the Sustainable Development Practice Course of Synecoculture, "Sustainable Development Literacy Course", "toio-Music Creative Robot Course", "SONY Photography Course", and "Sony Exploran Science Course - Straw Instrument - Panpipe".

Tree Planting activity

Planted around 200 oak trees and accumulated over 400 hours of volunteer time totally.
Delivered the Beijing Forestry Society Green volunteer certificate to each participants and started to accumulate Volunteer hours.

Earth day: One Blue Ocean: Clean-up Activity

To call more awareness to protect our earth through the event. Sony China arranged an environmental protection lecture through inviting NGO to introduce Marine knowledge, Explained the Sony Group One Blue Ocean project and Sony's recycled plastic SORPLAS. Invited participants to form 8 teams and completed a 3× 8-meter same blue ocean-themed jigsaw puzzle through teamwork.
Participants also brought disposable plastic waste from their homes to exchange for custom environmentally conscious handbags.

Clean-up activities and replanting of flower beds

From May to June, various CSR and environmental activities were carried out at the Kisarazu, Koda and Inazawa sites. This year, Kisarazu site members once again took part in the Banzu Tidal Flats Clean-up Operation organized by the local "Banzu Tidal Flats Protection Association."
Koda and Inazawa site members cleaned up the area around the company and replanted flower beds on the premises.

Bamboo Maintenance and Bamboo Shoot Digging Event at Sony Forest

On April 12th, a bamboo maintenance and bamboo shoot digging event was held in Sony Forest, with a total of 43 people, including employees and their families, taking part. Forest maintenance activities include removing thinned and dried bamboo and dividing seedlings into pots. They will grow better if you separate seedlings from a pot that contains multiple seedlings and replant them in individual pots. In addition, the bamboo thinning and bamboo shoot digging experiences were carried out in two teams. When digging for bamboo shoots, the children, who have a low eye level, were great at quickly finding the bamboo shoots that had not yet poked their heads out from the ground. Parents and children worked together to harvest a lot of bamboo shoots.

"So-net Forest" 38th forest maintenance activity

On April 26th, the 38th forest maintenance activity was held at "So-net Forest" in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture, with a total of 29 employees and their families participating. The day was a clear weather day, bringing with it the feeling of early summer, and the activities were carried out surrounded by fresh greenery. This time, they planted larch seedlings.
