Shintaro Shiratori graduated from the Department of Photographic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chiba University. He began his career in the Photography Department of Shiseido's Advertising Division, later joining the Photography Department at Hakuhodo (now Hakuhodo Products). In 1989, he became independent and founded Shiratori Photo Office.
Since 2008, he has served as President of the Japan Advertising Photographers' Association (APA). In 2018, he was awarded the Medal with Blue Ribbon by the Government of Japan.
His major accolades include the ADC Creator Award, APA Award, Mainichi Advertising Design Award (Grand Prize), Nikkei Advertising Award Grand Prix, Yomiuri Advertising Award Gold Prize, Asahi Advertising Award, the METI Minister's Award at the APA Awards, the ACC CM Festival Gold Prize, among many others.

As photographers, we take on assignments with a specific purpose or approach our subjects driven by our own curiosity. We study the light, decide on the framing, and draw on various techniques to create photographs that fulfill the intent-whether that of the client or our own.
What enables this process is our interest in the subject, along with the aesthetic sensibilities, intuition, experience, and technical skills we have cultivated.
Even outside of work, I often find myself drifting through the city with a camera at my side, with no particular goal in mind.
Then, without warning, a shape emerges-born of the way space and natural light meet.
I pause, drawn in, and lift the camera.
It is a photogenic world of light and shadow, color and form-one that exceeds anything I could have anticipated.
Grateful for the god of coincidence, I release the shutter.
There is no set path in the city I wander.
Light and shadow, color and form appear without warning-again and again.
